Successful Solutions is pleased to offer Smart Horizons courseware for the CDA Training, CDA Renewal Training and In-Service courses.
The CDA candidate must complete 120 hours of formal early childhood education training, covering the growth and development of children, with no fewer than 10 training hours in each of the eight CDA subject areas. Training should be relevant to the age setting which you are applying for the CDA Credential.
The training can be done any time prior to applying for the CDA Credential.
Coming up with fresh and exciting lesson plans and activities to keep children interested and motivated to learn can be a challenge. Lessons4Learners provides modified activities that are developmentally appropriate for each age group, including ideas for circle time, rhymes, songs and finger play.
Are you working on your CDA Credential? We have included the CDA Competency Standards to help you prepare your Professional Portfolio.
In order to submit an application for the CDA Credential, candidates are required to have 480 hours of professional work experience. This experience needs to be with the age children that the candidate is applying for the CDA Credential.
The work experience must be within the three years prior to submitting the application to the CDA Council.
CDA Verification Visit is in the demonstration stage of the CDA Credentialing process. The verification visit is a required component of the CDA credentialing process, where the Candidate will be observed and evaluated working with children in a specific age group.
The Professional Philosophy Statement should be no more than two pages in length. Identify your personal values and beliefs around teaching and learning: How do you believe young children learn? Based on this, explain what you believe your role is as their teacher/caregiver.
Beyond teaching and learning, reflect and write about what you believe are the other important aspects of your role in the lives of children and families.
The book gives CDA Candidates everything they will need to prepare and apply for the CDA Credential. It includes complete information on the credentialing process, the CDA Competency Standards and all of the forms a Candidate will use, including an application, Family Questionnaires, and the official Comprehensive Scoring Instrument (the Observation Tool) used by the CDA Professional Development Specialist. This book is ordered from the CDA Council of Professional Recognition, and is sometimes referred to as the "Application Packet".
Within 6 months before submitting the application to the CDA Council, you are required to put together a collection of reference materials related to your work. Please follow the detailed instructions in your CDA Competency Standards Book to prepare your Professional Portfolio.
