A few years ago, we tried water beads in our center. We had to remove them because certain children could not resist putting them in their mouths. At first we said, well, they're non-toxic, but then we started thinking about the chance of choking and the germs & bacteria. It seems like a shame, but it's reality. :(

Hi Kathy, You made a great decision. There is a link above for Safe Water Beads for Toddlers by Teaching Mama (a recipe for homemade safe water beads). That might be an option for your group..I haven't tried the homemade water beads myself but I have heard that they are a great alternative. If you try them, I would love to hear about it!
