School-Age Child Care Basics

All courses are completely online. Nothing will be shipped.

Attention:
This course meets the basic STARS training requirements for those providing care to children in school-age programs (5-12 years).

School-age staff provide care to children in commercial buildings, churches, onsite at a school, or community center. School-age programs can be licensed to provide care for children ages 5 years through 12 years, depending on the facility and staff qualifications.

If the program where you work provides care to children under the age of 5 years old, then you should not enroll in this course. For those who work in mixed-age child care programs or are family home child care providers, please click here to enroll in the mixed-age Child Care Basics.
