2 Clock Hours of Early Childhood Education
Course Synopsis:
This course emphasizes that toilet learning is a collaborative effort, involving not just the child, but also the family and early care and education professionals. It provides strategies for recognizing the subtle signs of a child’s readiness to learn to use the toilet, such as showing interest in the toilet, expressing discomfort when their diapers are wet or soiled, or being able to follow simple instructions.
The course underscores the importance of patience, understanding, and time in this process. It guides educators on how to provide positive reinforcement and create a stress-free learning environment. It also helps them understand the child’s role in this journey, which includes communicating their needs, following instructions, and ultimately, learning to control their bodily functions.
The goal of this course is not just about getting the child to use the toilet. It’s also about fostering their independence, boosting their self-esteem, and promoting their physical and emotional development. The course encourages educators to take it one step at a time and celebrate every little progress along the way.
Remember, every child is unique and begins learning to use the toilet at their own pace. There is no universally “right” way or a perfect age for learning to use the toilet. While most children typically learn to use the toilet between the ages of 2 and 4 years old, this can vary greatly from child to child. This course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to support each child’s unique journey towards toilet independence.
